Alexander Albon, representing Williams Racing FW46, participated in the Formula 1 World Championship, Rd 3, Australian Grand Prix, held at Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia on 23.03.2024. This was the Qualifying Day of the event.
During the final practice session, Charles Leclerc from Ferrari emerged as the fastest driver, clocking a time of 1:16.714s. He outpaced his closest competitor, Max Verstappen, by a margin of 0.020s. Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton also put up impressive performances, securing the third and fourth positions respectively, with their lap times falling within a tenth of Leclerc’s record.
George Russell secured the fifth position, followed by Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin, Sergio Perez, and Oscar Piastri. Lance Stroll claimed the ninth spot, while Lando Norris rounded off the top ten positions.
In a notable development, Alex Albon made a comeback to the race, finishing in the 13th position. However, this came at the expense of Logan Sargeant, who was unable to participate due to being sidelined. Williams Team Principal James Vowles showed a preference for Albon to pilot the team’s only remaining chassis for the duration of the weekend.
