NFL Insider: Detroit Lions Sign Wide Receiver Tre’Quan Smith to Reserve-Future Deal
In a move to bolster their offense, the Detroit Lions have made another addition. According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Lions have signed wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith to a reserve/future contract. This comes just hours after Smith worked out for the team.
Smith, who played one game for the Denver Broncos in the 2023 season, had a breakout year in 2020 with the New Orleans Saints. He started 10 games and achieved career highs of 34 receptions and 448 receiving yards. Known for his speed and big-play ability, Smith was highly regarded by NFL draft expert Matt Miller prior to his draft in 2018.
The Lions have been active in securing talent for the future. In addition to Smith, they also recently signed offensive lineman Netane Muti to a reserve/future contract. With these moves, the Lions are making sure they have the depth needed to strengthen their offense in the coming seasons.
