Pre-season testing is scheduled to begin on February 21st, with the first race of the season happening in Bahrain on March 2nd.
Fernando Alonso launched a verbal attack on Lewis Hamilton, stating that Hamilton’s recent decision to join Ferrari goes against what he previously claimed.
The seven-time world champion surprised the Formula 1 community two weeks ago by announcing his departure from Mercedes at the end of the 2024 season, citing a lifelong desire to race for Ferrari as a “dream from childhood”.
Alonso, an experienced Spanish driver and two-time world champion, who competed for Ferrari from 2010 to 2014, joked that Hamilton seemed to have changed his “dream from childhood” considering his previous loyalty to Mercedes.
“It wasn’t his childhood dream 12 months ago, right?” Alonso commented at Aston Martin’s car launch on Monday. “Or even two months ago, I suppose, it was a different dream.”
“I hope he enjoys the experience,” Alonso continued. “I think it’s a very special team. But it’s even more special when you win – it’s been a while since they had a really fast car and were competing for significant achievements.”

Alonso also discussed the possibility of replacing Hamilton at Mercedes next year, recognizing that he is an attractive choice for Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff.
Alonso, who had a tumultuous relationship with Hamilton when they were teammates at McLaren in 2007, revealed that he hasn’t dwelled much on Hamilton’s move as he focuses on his second year with Aston.
Aston revealed their 2024 car – the AMR24 – at Silverstone on Monday. Pre-season testing is set to begin on February 21st, with the first race of the season happening in Bahrain on March 2nd.
