Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull Racing, has been frequently addressing rumors surrounding Adrian Newey’s potential departure from his role as Chief Technical Officer. Newey has been a part of Red Bull since its establishment in 2006 and has designed cars that have won a remarkable 13 F1 championships. Despite the success of Newey’s latest creation, the RB20, which has won all but one of the first five races this season, there have been speculations about his unexpected exit. The reasons behind Newey’s alleged intention to leave are said to be connected to the allegations of inappropriate behavior against Horner. Although Horner has been cleared of these accusations, it is believed that Newey has grown unsettled with the media focus on Red Bull’s success rather than other matters. This is not the first time there have been rumors about Newey leaving Red Bull, as he has previously turned down offers from Ferrari on multiple occasions. In 2022, before Newey extended his contract until 2025, Horner discussed how Red Bull had adjusted its technical team to accommodate Newey’s reduced involvement. The team has appointed Pierre Wache as Technical Director, and they have successfully delivered on their projects with the support and collaboration of Newey. Red Bull has responded to the reports by stating that they were not aware of any potential offers from rival teams that Newey might be considering.
