The second practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix was filled with crashes, resulting in Pecco Bagnaia setting a new lap record at Jerez. The works KTMs also faced difficulties during the session. Maverick Vinales initially broke Bagnaia’s pole record from 2022, but Bagnaia responded with an impressive final effort, finishing a tenth ahead of Vinales with a time of 1m36.025s. However, it is expected that this record will be surpassed in Saturday’s session. Marc Marquez, who performed well in the first practice, was in contention for first place in FP2 but lost ground in the final sector. Marco Bezzecchi, despite an early crash, secured fourth place with the help of Bagnaia’s slipstream. Rookie Pedro Acosta also had a strong performance, finishing in the top 10. Jorge Martin, Aleix Espargaro, Enea Bastianini, Fabio Di Giannantonio, and Alex Marquez secured direct passage to Q2. Brad Binder, who showed promising pace, missed out on Q2 due to a late crash. Jack Miller and Dani Pedrosa also failed to make it to Q2. Franco Morbidelli struggled to set a competitive lap time, while Alex Rins and Takaaki Nakagami were over four tenths off Q2. Several riders, including Vinales, Raul Fernandez, Miguel Oliveira, Alex Marquez, and Fabio Quartararo, were involved in crashes during the session.
