Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski is prepared to shatter the UFC curse that has plagued fighters aged 35 and over. Throughout the history of the organization, only one former welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, has managed to secure UFC titles at the age of 35 or older, and that was in a weight class below 185 pounds. However, Volkanovski aims to defy the odds and prove that age is just a number.
In a lighthearted skit with Sportsbet Australia, Volkanovski (26-3 MMA, 13-2 UFC) hilariously challenges Ilia Topuria’s assertion that he is too old. Volkanovski is set to defend his title for the sixth time against Topuria (14-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) in the highly anticipated UFC 298 main event on February 17th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Take a look at the amusing promotional video below:
Topuria created a promotional video with a rose theme, using each rose to symbolize a victory. Not to be outdone, Volkanovski also unveils his own collection of roses in response.
