Alpine boss Bruno Famin has explained how the team is addressing its engine issues amid Formula 1’s current freeze on power unit performance. The Alpine Renault E-Tech power unit is widely regarded as the weakest in comparison to its competitors. Last season, Alpine asked the FIA to consider equalising the engines across manufacturers to reduce the gap, but decided to shift its focus to achieving parity with its rival supplier under the new regulations. Famin acknowledged that while their power unit is lacking, they have been working on other aspects such as integration, software, and cooling. They are determined to improve their overall package, including the chassis, aero, and understanding of the tires, to enhance performance. Despite the limitations imposed by the engine development freeze, Alpine has made significant changes to the A524, including a redesigned chassis, new suspension systems, improved heat rejection and brake system management, as well as modifications to the floor, front wing, and nose.
