ANAHEIM, Calif. – Amanda Lemos has always maintained a serious and professional demeanor, and her recent defeat in a title match did not alter that. In the featured prelim of UFC 298 on Saturday at Honda Center, Lemos (14-3-1 MMA, 8-3) secured a unanimous decision victory over Mackenzie Dern (13-5 MMA, 8-5) in an intense battle that earned them the Fight of the Night bonus.
“I’m pleased with tonight’s outcome and happy to be back on the winning track,” Lemos stated. “I made a conscious effort to keep the fight standing as much as possible, in order to impose my own game plan and prevent her from taking me down. Whenever I was taken down, I managed to avoid significant damage and quickly got back on my feet to continue striking and executing my strategy.”
This win marks Lemos’ return to success following her unsuccessful attempt at the promotional title against Zhang Weili in August. Although she lost that fight by unanimous decision, Lemos wasted no time in analyzing her performance and focusing on growth and improvement.
“I gained valuable insights from that loss,” Lemos explained. “It served as a reminder to return to training and work on enhancing my skills. We thoroughly studied the fight, aiming to become a more well-rounded fighter and make it increasingly difficult for my opponents to find any weaknesses in my game. That’s precisely what I’m doing, and that’s what we’re achieving.”
