In the aftermath of allegations against Ben Sulayem of meddling with proceedings during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the Las Vegas Grand Prix in 2023, a thorough investigation was conducted by the Federation’s Ethics Committee. The committee found no evidence of any wrongdoing on the part of Ben Sulayem, who, as per the findings, displayed “complete cooperation, transparency, and compliance throughout the process, greatly appreciated during this investigation.”
After interviewing 11 witnesses regarding the races held last year, the Ethics Committee investigators concluded that the accusations against the FIA President were baseless, and compelling evidence was presented to support the determination of the FIA Ethics Committee.
This outcome raised doubts among certain segments of the biased mainstream F1 media. Ben Sulayem subsequently cautioned member clubs, pointing out that these events unfolded with the clear intention of targeting the core of their leadership and undermining the foundation of their federation.
This implies the involvement of an external entity in the F1 paddock, aiming to weaken the FIA and its Chief, amidst a power struggle between them and F1 teams aligned with FOM, who are actively lobbying to undermine the governing body of F1.
Nevertheless, any skepticism regarding the support Ben Sulayem enjoys within the organization he leads was quelled today by a display of unity and support from FIA Member Clubs and Sport Federations of America. They expressed unwavering backing for their President in a letter published on the Federation’s website, signed by 34 FIA Club bosses.
