Andretti Global is moving forward with its aspirations to join Formula 1 in the future with the announcement of a new location at Silverstone Park. The FIA initiated an Expression of Interest process over a year ago to identify potential new F1 teams, and Andretti’s proposal was the only one accepted. However, Formula One Management (FOM) did not give Andretti the green light to enter in 2025 or 2026, raising doubts about their competitiveness. Nevertheless, FOM stated that they would reconsider the application in 2028 if General Motors commits as an engine manufacturer. Prior to F1’s announcement, Andretti had been making progress on its plans, including hiring former Renault engineer Nick Chester as Technical Director. The team had a base at Silverstone where they were developing plans to test a full-scale F1 chassis model in mid-2024. Andretti has now entered the next phase of their F1 venture with a new 48,000-square-foot building at Silverstone, which will expand their operations. The new headquarters will include manufacturing facilities, such as pattern, model, and machine shops, as well as ADM, electronics, R&D, and additional office and meeting spaces. Additionally, the Silverstone location will collaborate with Andretti’s main site in Indiana, United States, and their Formula E base in Banbury. Andretti emphasized that their work is progressing rapidly and believes that having a European base will allow them to attract top F1 talent and utilize state-of-the-art machinery.
