Arrow McLaren announced on Monday that David Malukas has been released from their IndyCar team due to his extended recovery timeline. The 22-year-old injured his wrist in a mountain biking accident in February and was initially expected to return to racing after six weeks. However, his recovery has been slower than anticipated, causing him to miss all the races in the current season. Despite recently having the pins removed from his hand, Malukas has expressed doubts about his readiness to compete in the Sonsio Grand Prix in two weeks at the IMS road course. Malukas expressed gratitude for the opportunity to drive for Arrow McLaren and his disappointment that it did not work out. He is now focused on fully recovering and proving his ability to compete at a high level. Callum Ilott and Theo Pourchaire have been called in as replacements for Malukas in the #6 entry for the first part of the year, as the team seeks a more stable arrangement moving forward. The team is also concerned about the upcoming Indianapolis 500 and is working to secure a solid replacement for Malukas. As for Malukas, he is now without a contract for his third IndyCar season and has missed out on showcasing his skills with one of the top teams in the paddock. Arrow McLaren is expected to announce a full-time replacement for Malukas in the coming week.
