In a thrilling battle at the Spanish Grand Prix, Pecco Bagnaia emerged victorious over Marc Marquez, securing a crucial win for the reigning MotoGP champion. The race took an unexpected turn when points leader Jorge Martin crashed out, allowing Bagnaia to gain 25 points and close the gap. Starting from pole position, Marquez managed to hold off Martin, who eventually took second place after overtaking Marco Bezzecchi and Brad Binder. Bagnaia made a daring move, overtaking both Martin and Bezzecchi to take the lead. However, Marquez fought back, pushing both Bagnaia and Martin wide and briefly taking the lead. Despite a mistake in braking, Bagnaia managed to stay in second place and the two title contenders began to distance themselves from the rest of the pack. On the 11th lap, Martin’s championship hopes were dashed as he crashed while braking into a hairpin turn. This gave Bagnaia a comfortable lead over Bezzecchi, who had overtaken Marquez. However, a mistake by Bezzecchi allowed Marquez to regain second place and start closing in on Bagnaia. Lap by lap, Marquez narrowed the gap until he was right behind Bagnaia with five laps to go. A thrilling battle ensued, with Marquez attempting to overtake Bagnaia multiple times. Bagnaia managed to hold him off with a brilliant display of skill and speed. In the end, Bagnaia crossed the finish line just 0.372s ahead of Marquez, securing a crucial victory. With this win, Bagnaia now sits only 17 points behind Martin in the championship standings, while Marquez is 32 points behind in sixth place. Bezzecchi finished in third place, achieving his first podium with the Ducati GP23. Alex Marquez and Enea Bastianini completed the top four, making it a successful race for Gresini riders. Bastianini’s overtaking move on Binder secured a Ducati 1-2-3-4-5. Fabio Di Giannantonio finished in seventh place, overtaking Miguel Oliveira in the late stages of the race. Oliveira still had a positive race, finishing in eighth place and fending off Maverick Vinales to claim the top Aprilia spot. Vinales made progress after a difficult start but was unable to surpass Aleix Espargaro, whose race ended in a crash with Johann Zarco. Rookie Pedro Acosta had a challenging race, starting from 18th place and making contact with Zarco early on. He fought his way up to 10th place before settling for the position. Joan Mir was the highest-placed Honda rider in 12th place, closely followed by Alex Rins as the top Yamaha rider in 13th place. The race saw fewer crashes and retirements compared to the previous day’s sprint race, but incidents between Jack Miller and Franco Morbidelli, as well as Dani Pedrosa and Lorenzo Savadori, resulted in their premature exits from the race.
