Sarah Bovy, a Belgian driver representing the Iron Dames team, achieved her first-ever pole position in the LMGT3 category for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. This momentous occasion took place during the third round of the championship on May 11th, at her home circuit. Bovy expressed her excitement during the post-qualifying press conference, stating that it was a remarkable feeling to secure the pole position at Spa for the first time. She also mentioned the special significance of being on the front row of the grid. Bovy acknowledged the challenges of the Spa-Francorchamps track and emphasized the importance of respecting its demands. Despite the difficulties faced during the qualifying session, she remained composed and maximized the performance of her car. Bovy’s exceptional pace was evident throughout the qualifying sessions, where she topped both Q1 and Hyperpole. Notably, the Hyperpole session was briefly interrupted by a severe crash involving Alex Malykhin in the Manthey Porsche 911. Nonetheless, Bovy’s achievement marked Lamborghini’s first pole position since joining the WEC in collaboration with Iron Lynx for their Hypercar and LMGT3 programs. Following a series of setbacks in the previous race at Imola, the team is determined to secure their second WEC victory, building on their success at last year’s Bahrain finale.
