Brandon Moreno understands that the world of MMA is full of surprises, but that doesn’t mean he can’t try to envision his future goals. The former UFC flyweight champion has his sights set on reclaiming his title in 2024, and he has a clear plan on how he wants to achieve it. First, Moreno (21-7-2 MMA, 9-4-2 UFC) will have to defeat Brandon Royval in the main event of UFC Fight Night on February 24 in Mexico City.
While the UFC hasn’t explicitly promised him a title shot, Moreno believes that a victory will put him in line for the opportunity. “They imply it, but they don’t explicitly state that you’ll be fighting for the belt,” Moreno told. Despite his win over Tim Elliott in his last fight, there are doubts about his readiness for the top five of the division. As for Manel Kape, we need to see him in action first. Unfortunately, his career has been plagued by numerous fights falling through. Despite some wanting to dismiss me, my name still holds weight. So yes, I want to win this fight.”
Moreno has a history of losses against Pantoja, with his most recent defeat resulting in him losing his title to the Brazilian in July 2023. If given the opportunity, Moreno would like to challenge for the belt on a significant date – September 16, Mexican Independence Day. “My ideal scenario would be to win this fight on the 24th and then compete on Noche UFC in September later this year,” Moreno stated. “I’ve had many plans that haven’t worked out perfectly, but that’s my roadmap for 2024.”
