HMS’ Chase Elliott and Bubba Wallace have a close friendship. Bubba Wallace and Chase Elliott arrived at the Texas Motor Speedway with high confidence, hoping to end Elliott’s winless streak that had lasted for over 42 races. They didn’t have to wait much longer, as Elliott took advantage of the chaotic race to win his first race since Talladega 2022, in double over-time.
After the race, Wallace couldn’t resist making a sly comment about NASCAR fans while celebrating Elliott’s victory. He pointed out that fans wouldn’t be demanding NASCAR to stop racing at the track, since their favorite driver had won there with an impressive performance.
“All is right in the NASCAR world today. Welcome back champ Chase Elliott,” wrote Wallace.
Texas Motor Speedway has been widely disliked by NASCAR fans and drivers alike. Even Elliott had been critical of the track’s difficulties and poor race quality since its re-configuration in 2017. However, this weekend’s race was arguably better than previous seasons, and Wallace may be correct in thinking that the track won’t lose its spot on the schedule.
Elliott’s teammate and close friend also shared his thoughts on the win. He was happy to see Elliott back in victory lane, although Larson himself didn’t have a great day on Sunday, being involved in multiple incidents after starting the race on pole position.
The impressive win further solidifies Hendrick Motorsports’ dominance in the 2024 season. It was their fifth win of the year, with only nine races into the season. Alongside Elliott, Larson also has one victory to his name. Meanwhile, their teammate William Byron is leading the way with three Cup race wins.
