Lando Norris achieved his first Formula 1 victory since joining McLaren in 2019. He had previously held the record for the most podium finishes without a race win. Norris took advantage of a Safety Car situation to take the lead in the race. His former teammate acknowledged the role of luck in his triumph.
During the race, Norris moved into first place following an incident involving Logan Sargeant and Kevin Magnussen. The positioning of the Safety Car worked in Norris’ favor, allowing him to secure the win. This highlights the element of luck that often comes into play in Formula 1.
Carlos Sainz, however, emphasized that Norris had been performing exceptionally well in previous races. Despite the luck involved, Sainz believed that Norris deserved the victory. Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur also acknowledged Norris’ strong performance as a contributing factor to his win.
Sainz also noted that it was about time for Norris to secure a Formula 1 race win. Norris had come close to winning a Grand Prix earlier in the season but lost control in wet conditions. Sainz highlighted the importance of luck for drivers who don’t have the best car on the grid.
Lando Norris’ victory at the Miami Grand Prix was partially attributed to luck with the Safety Car. However, he also demonstrated his skills by maintaining his lead and fending off Max Verstappen. Verstappen, though, had some damage to his car. Norris will be aiming for more victories in the upcoming races.
