Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) and Cadillac will be ending their partnership at the conclusion of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship seasons. CGR first joined forces with the General Motors manufacturer in the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech season during the DPi era, fielding a Cadillac DPi-V.R. This collaboration continued into the LMDh era, which began last year, allowing for the participation of two Cadillacs – one in IMSA and another in the WEC, thanks to the convergence of the LMDh formula eligible in both championships.
Although the #01 drivers, Sebastien Bourdais and Renger van der Zande, secured a GTP victory last year at Laguna Seca, their WEC counterparts based in Germany have yet to claim a victory in the world championship. Their highest finishing positions were third and fourth at the Centenary Le Mans, with the blue #2 WEC car crossing the finish line ahead of the yellow #3 entrant from IMSA. However, Action Express Racing managed to secure the inaugural GTP title and also emerged victorious at Petit Le Mans last year.
It is believed that CGR and Cadillac had a three-year contract starting in 2022, but it has not been renewed beyond 2024.
