Similar to many Chelsea players this season, Mykhailo Mudryk has struggled to replicate his top form for the club. There are likely numerous reasons for this, including the interference of owner Todd Boehly in the composition of the first team squad. Mauricio Pochettino is the most recent manager tasked with keeping the Blues competitive for titles, despite Boehly constantly finding opportunities to increase the club’s financial gain.
For instance, Conor Gallagher, who scored two goals against Crystal Palace on Monday night and has served as captain in Ben Chilwell’s absence, is expected to be sold in the summer due to the profit it would generate. This makes Pochettino’s job nearly impossible, although the club has stood firm in their stance on Mudryk.
“It is true that Bayern contacted Chelsea to inquire about Mykhailo Mudryk’s availability, but the Blues immediately declined,” revealed Fabrizio Romano in his exclusive Daily Briefing. “There was no negotiation, just a simple request. The phone call lasted a couple of hours, and once it became clear that Chelsea had no interest in cooperating, Bayern happily signed Bryan Zaragoza from Granada.”
“At the moment, Chelsea is still pleased with Mudryk and has no intention of entertaining any offers for his services,” Romano added.
Considering Mudryk is only 23 years old, there is undoubtedly more potential to be unlocked from the Ukrainian. Chelsea cannot afford to watch him flourish elsewhere, but he must be given a more substantial opportunity to prove himself through a consistent run of games.
