United Autosports has announced that Nico Pino will be racing for them in the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship. The Chilean driver will be behind the wheel of a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo in the LMGT3 class of the championship, alongside Marino Sato in the #95 McLaren.
Pino is no stranger to United Autosports, as he is also racing for them in the LMP2 class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. Teaming up with Ben Keating, Ben Hanley, and Pato O’Ward at the recent 24 Hours at Daytona, they finished 14th overall and sixth in class.
While Pino has previously competed in LMP3 in both IMSA and the European Le Mans Series, this will be his first season in LMP2 and GT cars. The 19-year-old expressed his excitement about joining McLaren Automotive and United Autosports, stating that it is a dream come true for him.
United Autosports CEO, Richard Dean, praised Pino’s skills and success in endurance racing, emphasizing his adaptability and speed on the track. Dean is confident that Pino will rise to the challenge of the LMGT3 class and make a strong impact in the championship.
