We are now just a few days away from Super Bowl 2024. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will face off in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday afternoon, competing for the honor of winning the Lombardi Trophy and becoming this year’s NFL champion. With millions of viewers from around the world, the Super Bowl is known for being the most-watched television event of the year.
The price of Super Bowl tickets has significantly increased in recent years, mirroring the trend of rising costs in various aspects of life. Last year’s “Get In Price,” which represents the cheapest available ticket, was $5,997. Currently, the Get In Price for the 2024 edition of the game has risen by 27%, with the cheapest ticket in Las Vegas priced at $7,641.
Ticket prices have been fluctuating in the past 10 days, but the peak of ticket sales is expected on Thursday evening when most visitors will arrive for the weekend.
When comparing the cost of attending the NFL championship game to other professional sports leagues’ championship games or series, the difference is significant. Even when considering the multiple-game aspect, none of the other leagues come close. For example, the ticket price for Game 3 of the 2023 Stanley Cup between the Florida Panthers and Vegas Golden Knights was $251. In the NBA Finals, Game 3 between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets had tickets as low as $232. In the World Series, fans paid $209 to attend a game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers.
Even if we were to apply the $251 cost of the Stanley Cup game to a hypothetical 7-game series, the total cost would only be $1,757, which is 334% less than the price of a single Super Bowl ticket.
