The Cubs and the Cardinals have a long-standing rivalry that dates back to the 1800s. A Chicago fan who appeared on Jeopardy! took the opportunity to express his dislike for St. Louis when the clue featured Albert Pujols.
The Cubs have a slight advantage in the rivalry, with a record of 1,267–1,214-19 against the Cardinals in over 2,500 regular season games. However, St. Louis has had more success in recent years, including winning 11 World Series titles compared to Chicago’s three.
Lloyd Sy, a professor of American literature from Illinois, competed on Jeopardy! and showed his allegiance to the Cubs. In the “Bald Is Beautiful” category, he correctly identified a picture of Albert Pujols and added a “Go Cubs” before moving on to the next clue.
Lloyd’s knowledge of Pujols helped him secure a victory on Jeopardy!, earning him a prize of $25,200.
