Dale Coyne Racing has officially announced that Jack Harvey will be behind the wheel for the team in the Grand Prix of Long Beach IndyCar race this weekend.
The British driver had initially planned to travel to California in a supporting role for DCR, but he was pleasantly surprised to be asked to step in as a driver at the last minute.
Harvey had previously been confirmed to drive in 14 out of the 17 races on the 2024 calendar, with Nolan Siegel filling in for the remaining races, including the one on the Long Beach street course.
Siegel, who is competing in the full season of the IndyNXT feeder series with HMD Motorsports, will still race in the #18 car in Long Beach as originally planned, representing the team’s main sponsor.
Harvey will take the opportunity to drive the #51 car for the upcoming race, and is expected to return to the other car for the Barber Motorsports Park event.
This chance gives Harvey an additional opportunity to improve his performance and move up the standings.
After being released from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing with only three races remaining last season, his two-year tenure with the team came to an abrupt end. Throughout his time with the team, he had only managed to achieve one top 10 finish.
This extra race with DCR provides the 30-year-old driver, whose birthday coincided with the recent announcement on Monday, another weekend to showcase his skills.
Practice sessions for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach will begin on Friday afternoon, with the 85-lap race scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 PM Eastern Time.
