Drew Dober may have paid the price for a poor decision in his battle against Renato Moicano at UFC Fight Night 235. In the co-main event held at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Dober (27-12 MMA, 13-8 UFC) suffered a unanimous decision loss to Moicano (18-5-1 MMA, 10-5 UFC). Despite finding success on his feet, Dober struggled to defend against Moicano’s grappling. As the fight entered Round 3, with each fighter securing a round, Dober attempted to counter a takedown by Moicano but ended up on his back for the remaining two and a half minutes. Dober took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the defeat.
“We didn’t achieve the desired outcome. In this game of small margins, I made errors, and @renato_moicano_ufc was the superior fighter tonight. Congratulations to him and his team. I have no shame in giving my all and testing my skills against the world’s best.”
Moicano responded to Dober’s post with admiration and even suggested his next opponent.
“I am a huge fan… In every interview, I have mentioned that you are a dangerous fighter!!! I would love to see you face Paddy Pimblett next… I have immense respect for you and thank you for the fight.”
Dober, aged 35, has now suffered two losses in his last three fights. Prior to his defeat against Moicano, Dober earned a Performance of the Night bonus for his first-round TKO victory over Ricky Glenn in October.
