Porsche Penske’s Kevin Estre emerged as the quickest driver in the third and final practice session for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. The session took place under sunny and warm conditions, providing teams with an opportunity to simulate qualifying runs and prepare for the upcoming race. However, there were a few incidents during the session, including Callum Ilott locking up into the bus-stop chicane and Antonio Fuoco crossing the white line at the pit lane exit, resulting in a penalty. Despite these incidents, Estre set the fastest lap time in his Porsche Penske 963, followed by James Calado in a Ferrari Hypercar and Mikkel Jensen in a Peugeot 9X8.
In the LMGT3 class, Hiroshi Koizumi spun his TF Sport Corvette Z06.R at Turns 5 and 6, causing a full-course-yellow period. Michelle Gatting, driving a Lamborghini Huracan LMGT3 EVO2, received a penalty for a speed infringement during the yellow flag period. The drivers in the GT cars were pushing the limits of the track, utilizing the kerbs in ways similar to the Hypercars at Imola. However, Takeshi Kimura in a Lexus RC F exceeded the track limits and received a penalty. In the end, Alex Malaykhin topped the LMGT3 class in his Porsche Manthey 911, followed by Rahel Frey in an Iron Dames Lamborghini and Daniel Juncadella in a TF Sport Corvette.
Overall, the practice session provided valuable preparation for the teams as they gear up for qualifying and the race at Spa-Francorchamps.
