Sergio Perez has been plying his trade with Red Bull since 2021. The Mexican driver, who has previously worked with Force India and Racing Point, believes that Red Bull has really exerted a great deal of effort while he has been driving for them. Perez’s contract had come to an end towards the end of 2020, but after his impressive win in Sakhir from 20th place, Red Bull offered him a seat.
Perez is the longest-serving teammate of Red Bull. Previous drivers, such as , , and , have all left the team after a short period of time. Currently, Perez is the second-fastest driver on the 2024 F1 grid.
When discussing the strategy Perez has employed to keep up with his Dutch teammate this year, Bernie Collins had the following to say. Despite the recent questions about Perez’s potential, he remains calm and composed. He has entered this season with the sole focus of his on-track performance. Perez genuinely believes that if he takes care of his performance, everything else will fall into place naturally.
During a recent conversation about the improvements made by him and Red Bull over the winter break, Sergio Perez jokingly referenced ‘s famous radio message from 2022. Unfortunately, despite being the second-fastest driver on the grid last season, the 34-year-old had a turbulent ride. Perez only managed to score 285 points compared to Verstappen’s 575.
This season, Sergio Perez has had a better start and needs to consistently perform in order to secure his Red Bull seat. The team has given him until the summer break, and so far he has been able to keep the team on his side. There are still 20 races remaining in the ongoing 2024 F1 calendar.
