Discover the Formula 1 outcomes from the early session of 2024 testing in Bahrain.
Max Verstappen and Red Bull resumed their dominance from last season, taking the lead in the opening morning of F1 2024 pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit. Despite facing challenges at Turns 5 and 8, reigning world champion Verstappen achieved a time of 1m 32.548. Impressively, he also completed a distance equivalent to more than a race using Pirelli’s tougher tire compounds, highlighting a productive start to the day.
George Russell was the first to venture onto the track as the green light signaled the start at the pit lane’s exit. This sparked a flurry of activity as teams eagerly explored the capabilities of their new vehicles. Charles Leclerc followed closely in second place for Ferrari, trailing Verstappen by seven-tenths, while Fernando Alonso in his Aston Martin was just a little further behind. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri secured fourth place, with RB’s Yuki Tsunoda and Mercedes’ George Russell completing the top six, despite Russell spending a significant amount of time in the garage for car adjustments.
