Augusto Fernandez is grateful to KTM’s MotoGP team for their support, but he acknowledges that he has not delivered the expected results on the race track. Fernandez had a solid debut season in the premier class last year, achieving top 10 finishes on four occasions and securing fourth place at Le Mans. He has retained his position at the GasGas KTM team for 2024, while his former teammate Pol Espargaro has been relegated to a test rider role. However, Fernandez has encountered difficulties this season with the 2024 RC16, feeling that his new bike is too soft compared to the previous model. In contrast, rookie teammate Pedro Acosta has had no such issues and has performed well in his debut MotoGP campaign, finishing in the top 10 in both sprints and main races. Despite his own struggles, Fernandez appreciates the support he receives from the factory and hopes to repay them with better results soon. He also admires Acosta’s achievements and aims to learn from him to improve his own performance. Although Fernandez faced challenges at the opening round in Qatar, he was pleased with the significant progress he made in Portugal, finishing in 11th place. He believes that he handled the difficult grip conditions better and acknowledges the need for further improvement. Fernandez mentions that the team has been making frequent changes to the bike setup during race weekends, but he hopes to establish a more stable base going forward. He also mentions the possibility of reverting to last season’s chassis after the Spanish Grand Prix if he continues to struggle with his current bike.
