Nico Hulkenberg has been performing exceptionally well since joining the Haas F1 team. He made his full comeback in 2023 with Haas, a team that has been struggling to achieve good results for many years. However, this season has shown some improvement for the team, but the question remains whether it will be enough to convince Hulkenberg to stay for 2025. Some believe that it is time for the German driver to explore better opportunities.
During an interview with Sky, Schumacher revealed that the owner of the American team has different plans. Hulkenberg had previously driven for Aston Martin (formerly known as Racing Points) as a substitute driver between 2020 and 2022 before officially returning to Haas. Although the team has had a better start this year, Schumacher does not think it is a strong enough reason for Hulkenberg to continue with Haas.
It is widely known that Hulkenberg is unsatisfied with the team’s performance. The interest shown by Audi may serve as a motivation for the German driver. Despite Haas’ improvements, there are inherent limitations that may ultimately lead Hulkenberg to leave the team at the end of this season.
While Ralf Schumacher has urged Hulkenberg to seek opportunities elsewhere, Hulkenberg himself has achieved points finishes twice. He genuinely believes that Haas is moving in the right direction and making progress. Currently, Haas holds the seventh position in the 2024 Constructors Championship.
Haas’ VF-24 has exceeded expectations this year. Not only does the car have a strong qualifying pace, but the team has also managed to improve its overall race performance. This has given Nico Hulkenberg optimism for the upcoming season.
