Hamda Al Qubaisi from the United Arab Emirates is leading the race for MP Motorsport at the start of the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. The F1 Academy has announced that the top five drivers in the Championship standings will earn FIA Super License Points in 2024. This all-female single-seater series was introduced last year to provide support and a strong foundation for female motorsport athletes in formula racing. In the upcoming season, the F1 Academy Champion will receive 10 Super License Points, while second and third place will earn seven and five points respectively. Fourth and fifth place in the Drivers’ standings will earn three and one point. The series is also implementing new measures to encourage more female drivers to participate in single-seater racing. At select venues, the F1 Academy will allow Wild Card entry from the host region, with PREMA providing support and coaching to the selected driver. Additionally, the Sporting Regulations have been updated to allow drivers to compete in only two seasons, creating more opportunities for new talent to participate in future seasons. F1 Academy Managing Director Susie Wolff expressed excitement about the progress made for the 2024 season and emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for women in the sport. The F1 Academy drivers have been making headlines as they prepare for the upcoming campaign. For example, Doriane Pin, a Mercedes Junior Driver, achieved her first pole position in the Formula 4 UAE Series, while Lia Block, a Williams Academy Driver, is participating in her first Formula 4 event in Jerez. Other F1 Academy drivers, such as Carrie Schreiner and Bianca Bustamante, are also competing in the opening round of the Formula Winter Series. Additionally, Amna Al Qubaisi, representing Visa Cash App RB F1 Academy, attended the Formula 1 team’s car launch for the 2024 season in Las Vegas.
