F1 Academy, the single-seater series exclusively for female drivers, is set to receive the tabloid treatment on Netflix in 2025, according to a recent announcement. Following the success of Formula 1’s Drive to Survive, this new documentary will be produced by Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon through her production company Hello Sunshine. Witherspoon expressed her excitement about partnering with Netflix to showcase the stories of these dynamic and fearless drivers who are breaking barriers in the world of motorsport. F1 Academy, led by Managing Director Susie Wolff, has made significant strides in its second season, securing a spot on the F1 support package for all seven rounds and securing backing from all 10 F1 teams for select drivers. In addition, Wolff has used her extensive experience to secure valuable commercial partnerships for the remaining drivers on the grid. The series has also expanded its broadcast presence, now being available in 160 territories and streamed live on F1 Academy’s X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube channels, as well as on F1TV. The ultimate goal of F1 Academy is to bring more female racing athletes into the world of Grand Prix racing, and the upcoming Netflix docuseries is a major step towards achieving that objective. Wolff hopes that the series will not only increase visibility for their mission but also inspire and empower the next generation of young women in motorsport. The 2024 F1 Academy season is currently underway in Miami, with Doriane Pin and Abbi Pulling leading the way in Friday’s practice sessions.
