Rahel Frey from Switzerland, Michelle Gatting from Denmark, and Sarah Bovy from Belgium, who make up the Iron Dames team, have announced their return to the FIA World Endurance Championship. They will be competing in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the final four rounds of the 2024 season. This news comes after Dorianne Pin’s announcement of her participation in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. The Iron Dames expressed their excitement about Frey’s return through a social media video. They plan to race together in Spa-Francorchamps, Le Mans, Sao Paulo, Austin, Fuji, and Bahrain. They are determined to build on their successful season last year and are looking forward to getting back on the track. They also wished Pin the best for her new endeavors.
Last year, Rahel Frey, Sarah Bovy, and Michelle Gatting made history by becoming the first all-female crew to win a round in the WEC. They achieved this feat at the 8 Hours of Bahrain, which was the season finale and marked the end of the GTE era. This year, they will be competing in the LMGT3 category with their Lamborghini Huracan LMGT3 EVO2, going up against 17 other competitors. The 6 Hours of Spa will kick off their racing season on May 11, followed by races in Sao Paulo on July 14, COTA on September 1, and Fuji on September 15. The 2024 WEC schedule will conclude with the 8 Hours of Bahrain on November 2.
