Graeme Souness, a pundit for Sky Sports, has expressed his doubts about the suitability of Kalvin Phillips, West Ham’s recent signing, to play in the Premier League. The 28-year-old has faced significant challenges since joining Manchester City two years ago, failing to make any impact for the team. Unfortunately, his first two appearances for West Ham have been disastrous.
During a conversation with Alan Pardew on talkSPORT, Souness questioned whether Phillips possesses the necessary qualities to be considered a Premier League player. Souness highlighted how Phillips had only spent one season in the Premier League while playing for Leeds United. Despite accumulating 69 Premier League games, Phillips secured a big move to Manchester City based on someone’s opinion. However, it quickly became apparent that he did not live up to their expectations, resulting in his departure from the club.
In Souness’ opinion, Phillips still needs to prove himself as a top player in the Premier League.
