Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has praised Liberty Media’s acquisition of MotoGP as “exciting” and expressed his enthusiasm for both series to take place on the same weekend. Liberty Media, the owners of F1, aims to gain control of Dorna Sports by the end of 2024, making it the custodian of both premier four and two-wheeled motorsports. This move is part of Liberty’s strategy to replicate the global success it has achieved with F1. Hamilton, who has experience in two-wheeled motorsports, welcomes this news and believes that Liberty can do a great job with MotoGP. During the Japanese GP weekend at Suzuka, Hamilton expressed his desire to participate in both MotoGP and F1 races on the same weekend, although he acknowledges that this is impossible. In 2019, Hamilton and MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi had a crossover event at the Valencia Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Spain, where they swapped vehicles and had a joint demo run. Both drivers thoroughly enjoyed the experience and Rossi praised Hamilton for his skills. However, despite the hopes of fans, Dorna Sporting Director Carlos Ezpeleta has stated that there are currently no plans for F1 and MotoGP to share a venue on the same weekend.
