Max Verstappen has been on a rampage throughout the ongoing 2024 F1 season. The 2024 Formula 1 season has witnessed the three-time World Champion continuing his dominant streak. The Dutchman has emerged victorious in four out of the five races this season, and if not for his mechanical problems in Australia, he would most likely have achieved a clean sweep.
Max Verstappen has also recently become the first F1 driver to secure five pole positions in the first five races of a season and appears to be in exceptional form on Saturdays. However, Red Bull advisor believes that his driver’s impressive run on Saturdays may come to an end in the upcoming event in Miami.
Max Verstappen has been exceptionally fast in his RB20 this year. The 80-year-old has disclosed how different track surfaces impact the RB20 and how this may hinder Verstappen’s qualifying performance. Only time will reveal how the three-time World Champion’s Saturday performance will unfold during the Miami GP weekend.
In the first five rounds of the ongoing campaign, Red Bull’s 2024 title contender, the RB20, seems to be the superior car by a significant margin. The car exhibits no weaknesses and has performed remarkably well on all types of tracks that the various teams have raced on this year.
The only setback for the RB20 occurred during the Australian GP weekend when Max Verstappen had to retire due to mechanical issues and struggled to match the pace of the Ferraris and McLarens. Following this, Helmut Marko has disclosed that different track surfaces cause tire wear problems for the dominant RB20.
The Austrian further explained how the diverse track surfaces rapidly affect the RB20’s tires and how his team needs to address and resolve this issue. Currently, the RB20 appears to be flawless, but Marko’s analysis is certainly something that fans will find intriguing.
Moreover, there are still 19 rounds remaining on the calendar, and it is in Red Bull’s best interest to promptly resolve its tire wear issues. Ferrari is in pursuit, and therefore, Horner and the team cannot afford any mistakes.
