The investigation into Horner’s inappropriate behavior concluded just before the Bahrain GP. The 50-year-old was cleared of the allegations. However, controversy arose when alleged evidence was leaked, leading to increased tensions within the team. Jos Verstappen, the father of Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, publicly criticized Horner as a result. Now, reports have emerged of further concerns within the team.
A Red Bull Motorsport Consultant reportedly fears that the entire situation surrounding Horner could result in Milton Keynes losing Ford as its partner for 2026. The carmaker, valued at $125 billion, partnered with Red Bull Powertrains for the new F1 power unit regulations set to begin in 2026. However, the recent controversies involving Horner may cause Ford to reconsider this partnership.
Ford has made it clear that it expects Red Bull to maintain high standards of behavior and integrity. This statement was released when Horner was under investigation. However, Ford expressed frustration publicly when Red Bull GmbH refused to disclose any details about the case. Therefore, Helmut Marko’s concerns may be justified for the time being.
Jos Verstappen, Max Verstappen’s father, has not held back in criticizing Horner over the current situation. However, the former F1 driver made it clear that he had no involvement in the alleged leak of evidence regarding Horner’s case. Nonetheless, reports suggest that Jos Verstappen may influence his son’s decision to leave Red Bull if Horner remains in Milton Keynes.
Furthermore, the relationship between F1 aero genius and Horner has reportedly deteriorated due to the allegations. It is even suggested that Newey may consider leaving Red Bull if the 50-year-old continues as Team Principal.
Undoubtedly, Horner’s recent allegations have put Red Bull in a difficult position. There have been reports of Helmut Marko aligning with Dietrich Mateschitz’s son to potentially remove Horner from his position. However, no action has been taken against the 50-year-old at this time. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop in the coming days.
