Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, has dismissed Helmut Marko’s claim that Audi has made a lucrative offer to Carlos Sainz. Sainz, who is currently searching for a new team following Ferrari’s acquisition of Lewis Hamilton, is rumored to be a potential candidate for Mercedes. Marko revealed that Red Bull has also had discussions with Sainz, but Horner denied any knowledge of Audi’s involvement in Formula 1. Horner stated that no offer has been disclosed to Red Bull and that it would be inappropriate to comment on the matter.
Horner emphasized that no financial details have been shared with Red Bull, despite Marko seemingly having information about Audi’s proposal to Sainz. Marko previously expressed his dissatisfaction with Audi’s attempts to influence the driver market. There have been rumors that Audi is pressuring Sainz to make a decision soon, as they have already signed Nico Hulkenberg for one seat at Haas. Marko commented on the current state of the driver market, stating that it is unusual for such discussions to take place in April. He also found it strange for a newcomer like Audi to exert pressure in the driver market.
