The Balance of Performance (BoP) measurements for the Hypercar category have been finalized ahead of the FIA World Endurance Championship season-opener in Qatar on 2 March. The FIA WEC has provided details of the BoP measurements for the 1812 km Qatar season-opener on 2 March, which will be preceded by two days of pre-season testing on 24-25 February. Nine Hypercar manufacturers will be participating in the 2024 season, including Alpine, BMW, Lamborghini, and Isotta Fraschini. Specific figures have been established for the weight, power, and energy per stint of each car. This season, all entrants in the Hypercar category will be using hybrid powertrains. The Peugeot 9X8 LMH will activate its ERS from 150 kph, while the other LMH cars will activate theirs from 190 kph. The Alpine A424 LMDh will have a minimum weight of 1070 kg, 510 kW/693 hp of power, and a maximum energy stint of 909 MJ. BMW’s M Hybrid V8 LMDh will weigh 10 kg less than Alpine at 1060 kg and produce a maximum of 506 kW/687 hp. Cadillac Racing’s #02 V-Series.R LMDh will be the second-lightest Hypercar at 1032 kg, with the least power at 499 kW/678 hp and the lowest maximum energy per stint at 891 MJ. Ferrari’s 499P will have a minimum weight of 1075 kg, 503 kW/683 hp of power, and 902 MJ of maximum stint energy. Isotta Fraschini’s #11 Tipo 6 LMH Competizione will be the second-heaviest Hypercar at 1085 kg, but will also be the second-most powerful at 514 kW/698 hp. Lamborghini’s #63 SC63 LMDh will weigh 1041 kg and have a power output of 502 kW/682 hp, with a maximum energy stint rating of 895 MJ. Peugeot’s two 9X8 LMHs will be the most powerful, weighing the lightest at 1030 kg, and having a maximum stint energy identical to BMW at 904 MJ. Porsche Penske Motorsport will not have any evolution upgrades on their 963 LMDh, with a minimum weight of 1048 kg, a power output of 505 kW/686 hp, and a maximum stint energy level of 900 MJ. Toyota GAZOO Racing, the outgoing champions, will have the heaviest weight figure at 1089 kg, a power output of 510 kW/693 hp (identical to Alpine), and a maximum energy stint figure of 914 MJ.
