IndyCar’s season finale for 2024 will no longer be held in downtown Nashville, but instead, it will take place at the Nashville Superspeedway oval located 20 miles outside of the city. This decision was made due to logistical challenges and the construction of a new stadium for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, which will occupy the previous pit and paddock area used by IndyCar. The lead promoter of the event, Scott Borchetta, explained that despite efforts to make the new street course layout work, it was becoming increasingly unfeasible. The Nashville Superspeedway has hosted IndyCar races in the past and will now step in to keep the Music City Grand Prix alive. While Borchetta and his team hope to bring the event back to downtown Nashville in the future, the ongoing construction and other challenges make it unlikely within the next four years. The 2024 Music City Grand Prix will take place on September 15, marking the third consecutive oval race to close out the IndyCar season.
