The Iron Dames has announced its complete 2024 driver lineup, consisting of nine female drivers who will represent the project across multiple racing series.
Established in 2018 by Deborah Mayer, the Iron Dames project has become a prominent presence in the world of sportscar racing and beyond, promoting greater female representation in motorsport.
The Iron Dames’ motto, “Women Driven By Dreams,” was exemplified by their historic victory in the GTE-Am category at the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship season finale, the Eight Hours of Bahrain. Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting, and Rahel Frey made history by becoming the first all-female crew to win in the FIA WEC.
In 2024, the Iron Dames will compete in various prestigious events, including the FIA WEC, IMSA Endurance Cup, European Le Mans Series (ELMS), and Michelin Le Mans Cup. Additionally, they will venture into new territories by participating in the F1 Academy Series, as well as the French Rally and French Gravel Rally Championships.
Bovy, Gatting, and Doriane Pin will represent the Iron Dames in the FIA WEC, driving a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2. Their campaign will kick off with the 1812Km of Qatar on March 02.
Pin will also embark on her inaugural season in the all-female single-seater series, F1 Academy, as a Mercedes Junior Driver. She has been making significant progress in her single-seater preparations, recently securing her maiden pole position and victory in the Formula 4 UAE Championship.
The Dames will continue their journey in the IMSA Endurance Cup, with Bovy, Gatting, and Frey competing in the GTD class. Their strong performance in the Daytona 24 Hours last month, where they finished sixth, has propelled them forward. Pin will join them as the fourth driver.
The FIA WEC race-winning trio will also participate in the ELMS this season.
In the Michelin Le Mans Cup, the Iron Dames will welcome two new members to their team: Celia Martin and Karen Gaillard.
Furthermore, 2024 marks the Iron Dames’ debut in the world of rallying. Driver Sarah Rumeau and co-driver Julie Amblard will take on the challenges of the French Rally Championship and French Gravel Rally Championship, driving a Ford Fiesta Rally2.
At the grassroots level, Natalia Granada will proudly represent the Iron Dames in the IAME Euro Series / Spanish Championship (CEK).
“2024 is a significant milestone in the growth of our project, as we explore new horizons and welcome new athletes into the Iron Dames family,” said Project Founder Mayer.
“The diverse and talented lineup reflects our commitment to bringing women together in different disciplines under a shared pursuit of excellence.
“The Iron Dames project is not just about racing; it’s about creating opportunities and inspiring individuals, regardless of gender, to believe in their dreams.
“Our success is a testament to the power of passion, hard work, and determination.
“We are excited to begin the 2024 season. I wish all the Iron Dames the best of luck and success. I firmly believe that no barriers are insurmountable and that together, we can achieve any dream.”
