Jamie Carragher believes that Xabi Alonso will take over from Jurgen Klopp as the manager of Liverpool. Carragher compared Alonso’s career to that of Jose Mourinho and Klopp, and thinks that Alonso has the potential to be successful at Anfield. Alonso, who played for Liverpool from 2004 to 2009 and was part of their Champions League-winning team in 2005, is currently the manager of Bayer Leverkusen. Since taking charge in 2022, Alonso has transformed the team from relegation contenders to potential league winners. Leverkusen are currently leading the Bundesliga standings, ahead of Bayern Munich. Carragher believes that if Alonso continues to achieve success with Leverkusen, he would be a great fit for Liverpool. He is interested to see how Alonso’s style of play would differ from Klopp’s if he were to become the next Liverpool manager. Liverpool, who are currently at the top of the Premier League, have also progressed to the round of 16 in the FA Cup and Europa League, and will face Chelsea in the League Cup final later this month.
