Joey Logano expressed his dissatisfaction with the Texas Motor Speedway after a disappointing race last Sunday. The track underwent resurfacing in 2016, which has been heavily criticized by drivers due to its lack of grip. Logano, a two-time Cup champion and driver for Team Penske, shared his thoughts on the track following the recent Cup event.
During the NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, Logano finished in 11th place. He was greatly disappointed with his performance and attributed it to the track’s resurfacing, which has made it sticky and negatively impacted its racing capabilities.
“I wish there was a way to remove that substance from the track… I don’t know the solution, but I believe it would improve the racing,” Logano commented on the residual traction compound that has been embedded into the surface of Texas Motor Speedway.
Logano, driving the No. 22 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, is one of the prominent figures to criticize the issues with the track’s resurfacing. Although the racing in Texas was decent this time, it still has a long way to go to reach the level it had in the 2000s.
The NASCAR Cup Series race in Texas witnessed average racing, with drivers across the grid complaining about the lack of grip caused by the track’s surface. In light of this, Logano shared his thoughts on how racing can be improved in Texas.
The driver emphasized that racing would see significant improvement if the track’s surface was cleaned and restored to its pre-2016 condition. With numerous top drivers voicing their concerns about the track, NASCAR will undoubtedly need to explore potential solutions, considering the track’s status as one of the most iconic in NASCAR history.
