Hendrick Motorsports has already claimed half of the races held in the pinnacle of racing this season. Their success has been greatly influenced by William Byron, who became the first repeat winner of 2024 at COTA, and Kyle Larson, who emerged victorious in Las Vegas. The team still has numerous races remaining in the 2024 season to conquer.
Byron set the tone for the following races by winning the opening round of the season. He continued his winning streak by triumphing at COTA and now carries the momentum into the upcoming races in Richmond and Martinville.
However, the recent race winner holds a different perspective on his chances at the upcoming tracks. He believes that short tracks are his weakness, as evidenced by his underwhelming 35th place finish in Bristol two weeks ago.
“I feel like it kind of fluctuates. We’re currently on a positive streak in terms of wins. However, I also aim to perform better on the off days. I’m constantly working on improving my performance every week, analyzing those days where I can make progress, like last week in Bristol. But overall, I feel like we’re experiencing more ups than downs right now. We just need to maintain this momentum,” he stated.
Despite his less-than-stellar track record at such circuits, the 26-year-old driver intends to go with the flow, as he mentioned. Furthermore, he aims to secure a place among the top contenders to continue his dominant form in the upcoming races.
