McLaren has had a more favorable start to the current Formula One season compared to previous years. The team is steadily making progress and accumulating points throughout the weekends in order to secure a spot in the top three for the constructor’s championship. In the Australian Grand Prix, McLaren finished in third and fourth place respectively, trailing behind Ferrari and Red Bull.
During the race in Melbourne, Ferrari achieved a 1-2 victory and is only four points away from taking the lead in the constructor’s championship. McLaren seems to have resolved the issues they encountered during the Suadi Arabian GP as they showcased exceptional speed in Australia. With a positive outlook for the upcoming Japanese GP, the team principal of McLaren believes they can narrow the gap with Ferrari.
The Suzuka circuit, in particular, could be advantageous for McLaren. By utilizing this to their benefit and maximizing their speed, McLaren has a genuine chance of surpassing Ferrari. McLaren’s objective for this year was to close the gap between the dominant teams, and it appears they are making progress.
In the Australian Grand Prix, McLaren achieved their first podium finish of the year and secured their first victory overall. Comparing the team’s performance to the Jeddah race, there has been significant improvement. The team is putting in immense effort to deliver an exceptional performance. Norris expressed optimism for the future, stating after the Aus GP that the team’s pace was likely better than Ferrari’s. He acknowledges that Ferrari has a faster car, but with their current pace, Norris sees it as a positive sign.
