The LCR Honda MotoGP team revealed an eye-catching new Castrol design for their new rider Johann Zarco on Thursday morning. Takaaki Nakagami, on the other hand, will have a slightly modified scheme. The team showcased the updated design for Zarco’s Castrol-sponsored RC213V in two separate online launches. Castrol, the British oil and lubricants company, will have a larger presence with the team this season, which is reflected in the white, red, and green paint scheme.
Unlike Alex Rins’ single-colored design in 2023, which he rode to victory in the Americas Grand Prix, Zarco’s 2024 pattern features stripes. Nakagami’s paint job, on the other hand, will remain mostly unchanged, with the primary white and red colors of the Japanese lubricants company Idemitsu. Nakagami’s bike will have an extended gold stripe parallel to the windscreen, and the solid red section from last season has been broken up by a white stripe for 2024.
Zarco’s decision to join Honda for the 2024 season comes after feeling unappreciated by his previous team, Ducati. After four years with Ducati, Zarco finally achieved his first premier class victory in an exciting Australian GP race last year. He rode for the official Ducati satellite team Pramac in his final season after joining them from Avintia in 2021.
Nakagami, on the other hand, will be aiming to recover from a challenging 2023 season. The Moto2 race winner struggled to adapt to Honda’s difficult RC213V and failed to secure a podium finish in MotoGP. His best result was eighth place at Assen, and he finished the year in 18th position overall.
LCR will have access to the latest version of Honda’s challenger, which has undergone updates to its engine, aero package, and chassis during the winter. The factory Honda team unveiled its refreshed paint scheme earlier this week, marking the first change in colors in three decades as Repsol, their long-time title partner, reduced its support for 2024.
