Kush Maini, a driver for Invicta Racing, has been disqualified from the FIA Formula 2 World Championship qualifying session in Bahrain. Maini had secured his first pole position on Thursday at the Sakhir-based circuit. However, after a post-qualifying inspection by the Stewards, it was discovered that there was an irregularity with the floor of his car. Specifically, the left undertray front external strake was found to be below the required minimum height, which goes against the Technical regulations. As a result, all of Maini’s lap times from qualifying have been invalidated, and he will start from the back of the grid for both the Sprint and Feature races this weekend. Gabriel Bortoleto, Maini’s teammate at Invicta Racing, now takes over the pole position, while Isack Hadjar from Campos Racing moves up to the front row in second place. This ruling also affects the reverse Sprint pole position, as Jak Crawford from DAMS moves up to 10th in the qualifying classification.
