On Monday, it was disclosed that Red Bull has initiated an internal inquiry into allegations of misconduct against Christian Horner, the team principal of their Red Bull Racing F1 team. This development comes shortly after the F1 community was rocked by the news of Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time F1 Champion, departing from Mercedes to join Ferrari in 2025. Horner, who has held the position of Red Bull Racing’s boss since its establishment in 2005, following the acquisition of the Jaguar F1 operation by Red Bull’s late founder, Dietrich Mateschitz. During Horner’s tenure, Red Bull achieved remarkable success, securing six F1 Constructors’ Titles and seven Drivers’ Crowns between 2010 and 2023, with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen leading the charge. Horner has vehemently denied the allegations, and his professional future hangs in the balance pending the outcome of the external investigation, which has been entrusted to a barrister by Red Bull. In the midst of this controversy, Helmut Marko, a key figure within the team, declined to provide any comment when approached by Motorsport Total, stating, “I have no comment to make on the matter.” The timing of the Horner revelations could not have been worse for Red Bull, as they prepare to defend their F1 Title in 2024.
