Gray Gaulding, a part-time NASCAR driver, has been arrested by police in North Carolina. As a result, he has been suspended from participating in any NASCAR events. Gaulding has competed in 11 races in the NASCAR Xfinity Cup Series in 2023 and was considered a promising talent in his early years, but has since fallen in the rankings.
On Tuesday, April 2nd, at 7:17 AM ET, Gray Gaulding was taken into custody by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of domestic violence. He was later released on bail at 12:42 PM ET on the same day, according to reports.
NASCAR has indefinitely suspended Gray Gaulding following his arrest. Although he has not raced this year, he still holds a NASCAR license. Gaulding was arrested early Tuesday morning on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. According to the incident report, two individuals were charged following a reported domestic altercation.
Currently, no court date has been set for Gaulding’s trial. NASCAR has stated that he will remain suspended from racing until a verdict is reached. The future of Gaulding, a former driver for Rick Ware Racing (RWR), remains uncertain.
In April 2023, Rick Ware Racing driver Gray Gaulding was arrested by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Department in North Carolina on allegations of domestic violence. As a result, NASCAR suspended him until a verdict was reached.
Gaulding’s ex-girlfriend accused him of assault by strangulation after he withdrew from the race at Bristol for personal reasons. Gaulding was later released on bail and attended court trials.
After eight months of trials and hearings, the charges against Gaulding were dropped in December 2023, clearing his name. Following the verdict, NASCAR reinstated Gaulding and allowed him to resume competing in NASCAR events.
