Perez faced a resounding defeat at the hands of Verstappen in 2023, yet his contributions were enough for RBR to secure a 1-2 finish in the Championship-winning season.
However, despite claiming two early victories in Jeddah and Baku, Perez found himself falling further behind Verstappen in the title race. He simply couldn’t keep up with the pace set by the Dutch driver.
Perez himself acknowledged the ups and downs of the season, stating, “We started off strong, but we faced challenges along the way. Nevertheless, we remained united as a team, and I am grateful for the support of my entire team.”
“We endured difficult times, but we have grown from those experiences,” the 34-year-old adds. “Next year, we will return even stronger.”
As the upcoming F1 season looms, Red Bull finds itself in crisis with an internal investigation into team boss Christian Horner’s conduct. The last thing the team needs is Perez’s inconsistency and frequent car damage.
With a number of talented drivers waiting in line, eager for an opportunity, Perez must prove himself and delay their chance for as long as possible.
