Nico Hulkenberg confirmed that he has other potential opportunities aside from Audi for the upcoming season. The German driver, who is rumored to be considering leaving Haas, stated that he is currently in discussions with multiple teams, not just Audi.
Previously, Hulkenberg had hinted that he may not be able to secure a seat with one of the top teams. However, he has now revealed that he has not ruled out talks with other teams. While it is still early to make a final decision for the next season, Hulkenberg mentioned that he has initiated discussions with several other teams.
Despite this, Hulkenberg emphasized that he is not in a hurry to finalize his team selection. With a majority of drivers’ contracts expiring by 2025, the 36-year-old has plenty of time on his side. The possibility of Hulkenberg joining Audi has been a popular topic of discussion recently, but the upcoming race weekends will certainly be intriguing for the German driver in Formula 1.
Haas has shown signs of improvement in performance compared to the previous season. The American team even achieved their first double points finish since Austria 2022 at the Australian Grand Prix. However, some believe that Hulkenberg should explore other options for the next season. Schumacher, for instance, highlighted the lack of structure and promising prospects at Haas.
Schumacher also mentioned the pending investments in the team, indicating that Gene Haas has different plans for the future. Thus, the former F1 driver suggested that Haas could serve as a valuable learning opportunity for newcomers in the sport, like Hulkenberg.
While the Haas F1 team has already shown promising results, they may struggle to convince Nico Hulkenberg to extend his contract as he continues to explore other options. The German driver is keeping his options open and considering alternatives to Haas.
