Lando Norris recently signed a contract extension with McLaren in the world of Formula 1. Despite the news of Lewis Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes, Norris has stated that he has no regrets about his decision to commit to McLaren. The speculation surrounding the F1 driver market began even before the start of the season when it was revealed that Hamilton would be moving to Ferrari in 2025. Toto Wolff, the boss of Mercedes, expressed his disappointment with the timing of the announcement, suggesting that Norris and Charles Leclerc could have been potential options for the team. McLaren CEO Zak Brown confirmed that Norris had already agreed to a new deal before the news broke, but Norris himself believes that he could have delayed his decision. Nevertheless, Norris is content with his choice to stay with McLaren for the long term, as he has been associated with the team since 2017. He stated, “I’m very happy. I could have waited, but I knew what opportunities were available to me and I have no regrets about my decision.” Norris was also considered as a possible replacement for Sergio Perez at Red Bull, but McLaren’s impressive performance last season has renewed his confidence in the team’s ability to compete for victories and championships. With the addition of a new wind tunnel and technical hires from Ferrari and Red Bull, McLaren is determined to build on their success from the previous campaign. Norris expressed his confidence in the team and his satisfaction with where he currently stands. Although he acknowledges that there is room for improvement, he values the enjoyment he finds in working with his teammates and believes that it is an important aspect of the team’s growth. He concluded, “Everyone has the potential to become the top team in Formula 1, and I am very happy to be a part of it.”
